Bret Battey-Clonal Colonies preview from Peter Flint/Avian Orchestra on Vimeo.
This past weekend I had the great honor of playing accordion with a mixed chamber orchestra performing Terry Riley’s IN C as part of the Rite of Summer concert series on Governor’s Island. We put on two great performances and got a very nice write up in the NY TImes. See the link below for the review, in which I was very pleased to see my accordion playing mentioned. Special thanks to Blair McMillen for organizing this and bringing me on board! Rite Of Summer IN C NY Times Review
Don’t wait until Feb 5 to hear the Peter Flint Trio again!
We’ve just been booked last minute on an informal showcase of Oberlin Conservatory composers, past and present. The Trio, including Peter, Andrew Sterman, and Arash Amini, will play about 15 minutes of music from our upcoming program. Expect to hear some of Peter’s accordion etudes, and perhaps one or two of his other works for the trio.
This evening will feature an informal presentation of work by students and faculty, both current and former, from the TIMARA program. The event serves as the focal point for four students (Meade Bernard, Sam Fisher, Gabe Stewart, and Eli Stine) and one faculty member (Tom Lopez) who have been working at Harvestworks Studios this month. http://harvestworks.org/ There will be live acoustic, electronic & computer music, video, and interactive art. Many alums and friends of the department have been invited to participate

Eileen Grycky and Christiaan Taggart will be premiering my newest piece, Double Speaking, which is loosely inspired by some of the Latin American folk music I have been immersed in recently. It’s a virtuosic and fun composition. I’m completely looking forward to hearing them grapple with it!
